In 1966 a handful of Professional Photographers got together to discuss the possibilities of forming an Association of Professional Photographers with the object to improve the standard of work for the good of the community.
A meeting was arranged for the 14th February 1966 to be held at the Drumkeen Hotel, Belfast. The result was a huge success with 100% turnout of local Professional Photographers.
An election for Officers and Council was formed and the following month a Constitution was presented to the members which as at that time accepted.
Progressing From Strength To Strength
From then the Association has progressed from strength to strength, holding conferences and seminars. The result being we offer the public some of the highest standards of work in The United Kingdom.
We have members from all over Northern Ireland who specialise in a variety of areas such as fashion, wedding, advertising and portraits.
Today And Beyond
Today we offer our members leading industry support. In order to do this, we offer local photographers a full programme of training courses and events plus a number of preferential deals on useful products and services.
We want to ensure that the future of photography in Northern Ireland is positive.
